Friend, all across the country, Republican-led states are imposing regressive bans on abortions that actively endanger the safety and wellbeing of women. 

In Florida, they passed a 15-week ban on abortions. In Texas, anyone who assists a woman in getting an abortion after six weeks can be sued. This week in Oklahoma, they passed a bill making it illegal to perform abortions.

These legislative proposals are more than abhorrent, they are clear attempts to restrict women’s rights. Women deserve bodily autonomy and the right to choose what’s best for them and their families — but if Republicans get their way, women would lose the right to govern their own bodies. We can’t allow this to happen, and we have to fight back. Will you join me in standing up to protect abortion access here in Maryland?

I’ve dedicated my life to working towards achieving equal rights for women here in Maryland and across the country — through my law career, at Planned Parenthood, and at the Women’s Law Center — and I know that women’s economic security and equality depend on the right to bodily autonomy.
