** RADICAL TRUTH AT THE HOLIDAY TABLE
------------------------------------------------------------
If this week’s news tells us anything, it's that we're at war, and history repeats itself when we don’t get radical.

Audre Lorde says “The master''s tools will never dismantle the master’s house." We continue to replicate our mistakes and go along to get along, but political theater and the politics of force isn’t going to get us where we need to go.

In our Season 3 premier episode (!) of CTZN Podcast, Katie Loncke of Buddhist Peace Fellowship invites us to listen to the quieter instruments of activism. ([link removed]) “What's possible in a non-dual, patient, committed, steady, 'irrepressible politics,' which is like the patience of the ocean that just erodes the cliff side?”

This feels like an important reminder with the acceleration of impeachment and momentum of the 2020 election: this is a marathon, not a sprint. Perhaps that is the practice of this moment: to keep going, breath by breath, and meet each moment as it comes with the power and patience of the ocean. Maybe that is our practice.

To dig into this practice of grounding in peace while speaking the truth ahead of next week's holiday for many in the US, join Katie, Carinne Luck, and me Monday evening for a free, online meet-up ([link removed]) ! We'll talk about strategies for confronting racism and toxicity at the holiday table, plus leave lots of time for open Q&A. Register here ([link removed]) .

HOLIDAY TOXICITY
Hope you can join our free online meet-up Monday evening ([link removed]) , just in time for seeing That Racist Uncle at Thanksgiving. Together, we'll learn how to keep our own peace without shrinking in silence. Don't forget to register ([link removed]) to save your spot!

Be sure to also check out what our friends at The BIG We Podcast are sharing about reclaiming Thanksgiving ([link removed]) (superhero costumes, anyone?)

DEM DEBATE RECAP
Last night, 10 Democratic presidential hopefuls took the debate stage - this time, moderated by four women ([link removed]) . Our takeaways ([link removed]) : Bernie's the new climate candidate ([link removed]) . Elizabeth Warren connected repro rights, economic justice, and racism. Kamala Harris and Cory Booker called out Dems taking Black voters for granted. Biden forgot that Kamala's a Black woman Senator... and he's tone-deaf AF ([link removed]) on #MeToo. Pop feminism doesn't translate to policy ([link removed]) . Tulsi Gabbard is a tool for the Far Right ([link removed]) . Mayor Pete may be surging in (very white) Iowa
([link removed]) , but last night proved again that he's not the anti-establishment candidate ([link removed]) he claims to be. And though he didn't poll high enough to be on stage, Julian Castro's tweets killed ([link removed]) .

TRANS LIVES MATTER
One glaring omission from the debate? Any talk about transgender rights. This was especially egregious on #TransDayofRemembrance, when we honor the lives lost ([link removed]) and recommit to "fighting like hell for the living." 331 of our trans and gender-diverse siblings were killed worldwide this year. In the US, they're at high risk for homelessness, poor health care, employment instability, and erasure by trans-exclusionary radical "feminists," or TERFs ([link removed]) . Black trans women are by far the most likely to be murdered. Support groups like the Transgender Law Center ([link removed]) and local, trans-led orgs near you. CTZN PODCAST IS BACK!
Season 3 of CTZN Podcast is here ([link removed]) ! The most frequent question we get is "How can I show up?" Katie Loncke of Buddhist Peace Fellowship, one of the most throw-down, committed activists we know, is helping us answer that. What makes Katie unique is a commitment to *being* as *doing* in justice work. Tune in (and subscribe!) on your favorite app, or over at our website ([link removed]) . Huge shout-out to all of our amazing Patreon members ([link removed]) for making this new season possible!

IMPEACHMENT EXPLAINED
If you've been tuning out the news, now's a good time to plug back in. Here's a handy guide from Vox about WTF is going on with the House impeachment proceedings ([link removed]) . But the scary reality is that with a Republican-controlled Senate (unlikely to convict Trump in the impeachment process and remove him) and an Electoral College advantage ([link removed]) , Trump could still win a second term. That's why we need to elect Senate champions #forthepeople, too. Check out the slate of folx running for those critical seats with Brand New Congress ([link removed]) , the org that originally recruited AOC and came up with #DefundICE.
