Hey John -
We dream and we strive everyday for a more just and equitable society — for a more perfect union. And yesterday, Judge Ketanji Brown Jackson made history with her confirmation as the first black woman in the history of the United States to serve as an Associate Justice of the United States Supreme Court.
Unfailingly poised and dignified, Judge Jackson persevered through hours of grueling questioning by the Republicans to ascend to the highest court in the land. And we are reminded of the possibilities of America when Judge Jackson said her family went “from segregation to the Supreme Court in one generation.”
Congratulations to the Associate Justice-designate of the United States Supreme Court Ketanji Brown Jackson.
Here in Virginia, the annual Virginia Young Democrats convention is happening this weekend in Alexandria. Chapters from all across the commonwealth are congregating to elect new leadership and gear up for the midterms ahead. Registration for this event is now closed, but we look forward to meeting with fellow Virginia Young Dems and keep an eye out for our email next week with a roundup of all the post-convention updates.
Today is also the last chance to get Early Bird tickets for our annual Blue Victory After Dark celebration happening April 30th at 9pm directly following Arlington Dems Blue Victory Dinner. Get dressed up and dance the night away, have fun in our photo booth, hang out with fellow Young Dems, and get two free drinks per ticket!
