John—
One of our primary objectives at Giffords Law Center is to hold the gun industry accountable. Yesterday, we took a significant step in that direction by joining with our partners in the Firearms Accountability Counsel Taskforce (FACT) to petition the Federal Trade Commission (FTC) to take action against the gun industry’s unfair, deceptive, and illegal advertising practices.
For years, gun advertisements have told consumers that having a gun in their home or on their person makes them and their loved ones safer—a message that is contrary to all of the evidence. Using these unfair and deceptive messages, the gun industry is selling more guns than ever before.
Can you help fuel our fight against the gun lobby? Your support in this moment is crucial.

The FACT coalition is a joint effort by some of the most influential gun violence prevention organizations in this country to partner with law firms to reduce gun violence. This month, on the fourth anniversary of its founding, March For Our Lives joined Giffords Law Center and Brady in this important endeavor.
This isn’t the first time the FTC has been asked to investigate the gun industry, and we’re certain it won’t be the last. But with a presidential administration that supports commonsense measures to prevent gun violence and an American public that wants their communities to be safe, the FTC must address this petition.
We’re calling on the FTC to take action against the gun industry’s repeated violations of consumer protection law—can we count on your help in this fight?
Our work is possible because of your support. Thank you.
Warmly,
David
