Back in 2006, I was a student myself looking for ways to fund my education. The California Dream Act hadn’t passed yet, and undocumented folks faced so many dead ends in the search for scholarships that served us. That’s why while working as a Graduate Advisor at Immigrants Rising in 2009, I began compiling a list of scholarships that did not require legal immigration status. Since then, our list has grown to contain over 500 scholarships and fellowships, serving a generation of undocumented undergraduate and graduate students across the country.
This year, 13 since its inception, I’m back at Immigrants Rising and our team is proud to present you with an interactive list that can be customized to your unique background. The new list can be refined by eligibility requirements such as region, education status, GPA, and more!

Scholarships and fellowships are essential for many undocumented students to achieve their educational and professional goals, especially students who do not qualify for in-state tuition and state-based financial aid. Immigration status should never be a barrier between a student and their pursuit of education.
