John, As a lifelong educator who met my wife Kathy when we were both kids in elementary school, I know deep in my bones that quality public education is the backbone of a stable middle class. That quality education starts with kind, inspiring, and resilient teachers who do what it takes to reach students where they are. None of that involves making it easier to have guns on school grounds, but you wouldn't know it if you were to listen to Republican leadership in Wisconsin. They sent me a bill to my desk that would remove common sense protections that help keep guns off of school grounds. Of course, I immediately vetoed this dangerous attack on student safety, but I'm going to need your help to stand against all the lies they are going to tell about it. Can I count on you to click here and add your name if you support this veto?
It would be bad enough if all Republicans wanted to do was jeopardize school safety. Sadly, it's much worse — they are also blocking critical funding that our students and schools deserve. We need to do the right thing and give our kids every opportunity to succeed. The people of Wisconsin have told us time and time again at the ballot box and in the polls. Why are Republicans in the legislature failing to listen to their own voters? I wish the Republicans, like Robin Vos and Rebecca Kleefisch shared my desire to keep kids safe from violence and improve public education, but sadly that's not the case. They would rather starve our kids of critical education funding, enrich their special interest donors, and jeopardize public safety. That's why we need to stand up against their attacks on public education. Sign here to support this critical veto. Onward, Tony
