Title 42 Press Conference with Heritage Foundation and Trump Admin Leadership
On Tuesday, I joined members of the Heritage Foundation’s Center for Border Security and Immigration for a press conference to hold the Biden Administration more accountable for its decision to terminate Title 42 on May 23.
Joining me were Tom Homan, the former Acting Director of U.S. Immigration and Customs Enforcement, Mark Morgan, the former Acting Commissioner of U.S. Customs and Border Protection, and U.S. Department of Homeland Security Deputy Chief of Staff Lora Ries.
Title 42 is a public health order that enables immigration authorities to quickly remove illegal aliens from the country in order to mitigate risks from COVID-19.
Once this order is lifted, hundreds of thousands of illegal aliens are expected to flock to the United States hoping to exploit Joe Biden’s open-border policies. The Department of Homeland Security has estimated that immigration officials could encounter at least 18,000 illegal aliens per day, which is significantly higher than the 6,000 or so they are currently encountering.
Given the Biden Administration’s “catch and release” policies, this surge will lead to an ever-increasing number of aliens being released into American communities. This will create an additional crisis that immigration authorities simply do not have the bandwidth and resources to handle.
I introduced legislation to close the loopholes in immigration law that Joe Biden is allowing to be exploited. The Stopping Border Surges Act would fix problems caused by the Flores Settlement Agreement that prevent DHS from detaining family units for more than 20 days, ensure that unaccompanied alien children are quickly and safely returned home, and promote increased integrity in the asylum system. You can read the full bill text here and my press release on the bill here.
Radical Ketanji Brown Jackson Confirmed to the U.S. Supreme Court
This week, the Senate, unfortunately, confirmed President Biden’s Supreme Court nominee, Ketanji Brown Jackson. 50 Democrats and THREE Republicans voted for her confirmation.
Judge Jackson highly concerns me. She is dangerous to children as her record shows that she prefers to protect those who harm and exploit children over the children who are victims.
The case of U.S. v. Hawkins shows that Jackson isn’t just soft on crime, but that she is soft on a particular type of crime: child pornography. An 18-year old man possessed and distributed hundreds of images of prepubescent boys being sexually assaulted. Federal guidelines indicated a prison sentence of up to 10 years, prosecutors recommended 2 years. Judge Jackson sentenced Hawkins to 3 months. After his release Hawkins reoffended.
Judge Jackson is dangerous to the Constitution. She places Critical Race Theory on the same plane as the Constitution. She has supported the discredited 1619 Project. Her position indicates that she accepts the misguided notion that America is systemically and irredeemably racist.
Judge Jackson is a danger to women. Senator Blackburn (R-Tenn.) asked if Jackson could define “woman.” Jackson’s response that she couldn’t define a woman because she isn’t a biologist demonstrates a radical point of view. It isn’t a view shared by most Americans, even those who aren’t biologists. She has the same difficulty defining when life begins. One wonders how she can ever decide on an issue without a biologist by her side.
Her judicial temperament and her radical view demonstrate that she will not uphold the Constitution, but will, rather, undermine the Constitution. Judge Jackson is perhaps the most radical nominee in the history of the country. Below is a new digital ad I released on social media this week:
Letter to DHS Secretary Alejandro Mayorkas Regarding Russians at the Southern Border
This week, a number of media outlets including Fox News and Newsmax picked up my new letter to Department of Homeland Security Secretary (DHS) Alejandro Mayorkas seeking information about Russian nationals illegally entering the United States and being released into the interior of the country by DHS.
Americans deserve to know who is attempting to illegally enter the country and whether they are being released into the country.
I’ve been recently made aware of reports of an increase in Russians attempting to enter the country and have serious concerns about what this could mean for our national security.
Secretary Mayorkas must provide more clarity about this situation, especially as national security threats from Russia increase given the current situation in Ukraine.
The full letter may be found here.
Suspending Normal Trade Relations with Russia and Belarus
Last month, I voted against suspending normal trade relations with Russia and Belarus because the bill included language to radically modify the Global Magnitsky Act.
The vague language changes to the Global Magnitsky Act allowed President Biden to create his own definition of “human rights abuses” and target any foreign individual anywhere in the world. Given the Biden Administration’s radical view that access to abortion is a human right, I feared this provision could be used to target pro-life leaders and groups who seek to limit abortion access and protect the right to life.
Fortunately, the Senate agreed with my concerns and removed this provision of the bill. Because of this change, I voted to suspend normal trade relations with Russia and Belarus this week.
Democrats Reject My Hunter Biden Subpoena
On Tuesday, House Democrats rejected my motion to subpoena Hunter Biden as a witness for the House Oversight and Reform Committee hearing focusing on electrifying U.S. Postal Service (USPS) vehicles.
Cobalt is a chemical element necessary for electric car production. Hunter Biden was a "part-owner of a venture involved in the $3.8 billion purchase by a Chinese conglomerate of one of the world’s largest cobalt deposits,” according to media reports.
Hunter’s cobalt industry experience and expertise must be shared with the Committee.
Why Democrats refuse to hold Hunter Biden accountable for his shady business dealings with China and protect him at any cost is beyond me. His dealings make our country less energy independent and compromise our national security. Check out the interaction below:

Definition of the Week
Who remembers going to Disney World as a kid or as a parent? Or maybe watching a Disney movie like the Mighty Ducks? What were once American staples have now become something unrecognizable and un-American.
Disney has recently decided to go woke and cave to fringe political activists. It will no longer use the words “boys and girls” at its theme parks. One of its executives wants half its characters to be LGBTQIA or minorities. It also has taken a stance against Florida’s much-needed parental rights law H.B.1556--a law that prohibits classroom discussion on “sexual orientation” and “gender identity” with children in third grade or younger.

Disney: NOUN: an American corporation that promotes radical Leftist social and cultural policies.
