John, this week,
the Oklahoma State Legislature passed Senate Bill 612, which would make
providing abortion care a felony, punishable by up to 10 years in prison
or fines up to $100,000. The bill is now on its way to Governor Kevin
Stitt’s desk where it is expected to be signed into law.

key moment for reproductive rights.

SB 612 blatantly defies Roe v. Wade. This extreme proposed law will have
devastating effects on not only women, non-binary folks, and trans men
from Oklahoma – but it will also directly affect Texans who have been
traveling to seek abortion in their neighboring state. According to the
ACLU, nearly half of the patients being seen by Oklahoma providers are
from Texas.
An important note to folks who may currently be seeking an abortion in
OK:
Right now, abortion is still legal in Oklahoma. If signed, this bill
would not go into effect until later in the summer.
We can’t overstate this: these attacks by Republican lawmakers are
intentional, coordinated, and will continue to spread. This is why they
stacked the Supreme Court with ultra-conservative justices like Brett
Kavanaugh and Amy Coney Barrett. This is why Mitch McConnell confirmed a
record number of anti-abortion judges to courts across the country.
The future of abortion access in our country is under grave threat. We
must push back as a movement against this nationwide wave of attacks on
abortion and reproductive care.

attacks on our reproductive rights? Rush your gift to our Reproductive
Justice Fund today so we can strike back.
Thank you for taking action to defend our bodily autonomy and right to
choose when, if, and how we have a family.
