Hello,

This is a historic moment for our country: The Senate just voted to confirm Justice Ketanji Brown Jackson’s nomination to the Supreme Court.

Not only is Justice Brown Jackson exceptionally qualified – as a Harvard Law School Graduate, former clerk to Justice Stephen Breyer, and Judge on D.C.’s Court of Appeals – but she will also become the first-ever Black woman and former public defender to sit on the Supreme Court.

The daughter of public school teachers, who attended segregated primary schools themselves, Justice Brown Jackson’s parents instilled in her early on the importance of education.

When Justice Brown Jackson told her high school guidance counselor she wanted to attend Harvard, the guidance counselor warned that she should not set her “sights so high.” That did not stop Justice Brown Jackson.

It’s long overdue that our highest court reflects the diversity and talent of our great nation, and we’re thrilled that more little girls will see themselves represented at every level of government.

Despite some Republicans’ obstruction, Justice Brown Jackson proved throughout the confirmation process that she’s more than prepared to serve on the Supreme Court.

But let’s not forget: This momentous occasion would not have happened without voters in Michigan and across the country making their voices heard.

Elections matter and it’s clear that we must protect and defend our razor-thin Democratic House majority. Will you chip in $25 or whatever you can to protect our progress and allow Democrats to continue making history?
