John – I want to show you the impact our movement for fair redistricting has had, in map form:
As you can see, our movement has been far-reaching over the past several years – and more importantly, we’ve been effective. Today, I can proudly tell you that a plurality of congressional seats are being drawn by redistricting commissions instead of legislatures under one-party control. And President Obama recently said that “it’s now unlikely that control of the House will be determined strictly by the way maps are drawn.”
But please, please believe me when I say we’re not finished. Republicans are still desperately trying to lock in their gerrymanders and reverse the victories our movement has had in court. In fact, they’re going to greater and greater extremes – so I need this community to stay vigilant.
