Legislative initiatives I championed to modernize Department of Veterans Affairs (VA) breast cancer screening policies and the delivery of lifesaving care for women veterans are one step closer to becoming law.
I highlighted recent passage of the Dr. Kate Hendricks Thomas SERVICE Act and the MAMMO for Veterans Act. These legislative victories continue our promise to women who served in our nation’s uniform.

Supporting Gold Star Spouses
This week we recognized Gold Star Spouses Day. It’s a day to reflect on the sacrifices made by families of fallen servicemembers and continue our commitment for their service. I’ve pushed for changes to expand benefits to military survivors and families and we’ve been able to make critical updates to support Gold Star families.
Read how these efforts are helping survivors.
Expanding VA Health Services
The VA recently celebrated the expansion of health care services in Fort Smith with the new state-of-the-art Community-Based Outpatient Clinic (CBOC). This facility provides an additional 18 exam rooms and expands its services to include eye care, audiology, women’s health and other high-demand specialty care so more veterans can access VA health care close to where they live.

Warning: Biden Administration Making Border Crisis Worse
The Biden administration announced days ago it will lift the Title 42 policy instituted by President Trump to help stop illegal immigrants from gaining access to our country during the COVID-19 public health emergency. At the same time, President Biden is asking for more pandemic funding and extending COVID-era programs. His administration thinks it’s acceptable to lift the Title 42 order and invite a massive surge of illegal immigration at our southern border. I’ve warned against this reckless policy repeatedly and will continue working with my colleagues to push back against this disaster-in-the-making.
Increasing Trade Opportunities for Arkansas Agriculture
As a voice for Arkansas agricultural producers, I’m urging President Biden to fill vacancies in the administration to help increase trade opportunities for agriculture. We need strong advocates who understand the needs of American farmers, ranchers and foresters and represent their best interests on the world stage. Read the letter Senate Agriculture Committee Chairwoman Debbie Stabenow (D-MI), Senate Finance Committee Ranking Member Mike Crapo (R-ID) and I sent to the president.
In the News
I’ve pushed the Departments of Defense and Homeland Security to pull out all the stops and be proactive in allocating the resources and capabilities to defend against the cybersecurity attacks that cripple our vital systems and disrupt our lives. I’ve been working alongside other leaders to strengthen Arkansas’s role in combating cyberthreats.
