Platinum Jubilee Portrait Benches - Have your say!

Who would you like to see immortalised in laser-cut steel? Sustrans are installing a portrait bench along the National Cycle Network Route 6 in Nottingham as part of the Queen's Platinum Jubilee celebration

To have your say on which three local heroes from the last 70 years will be chosen for this location, please click here!

The website is open now and closes on 11 April. Once nominations have closed there will be a public vote to decide the three heroes.

Updates to rules on using mobile phones

From Friday 25 March rules in The Highway Code came into force making any hand-held use of a mobile phone while driving illegal, except in limited circumstances.

You must not use a device in your hand for any reason, whether online or offline. The law applies if you are:

  • supervising a learner driver
  • stopped at traffic lights
  • queuing in traffic
  • driving a car that turns the engine off when you stop moving
  • holding and using a device that’s offline or in flight mode

There are exceptions, such as if you need to call 999 or 112 in an emergency or making a contactless payment in a vehicle that is not moving.

See the updates here.

Changes to the Highway Code

Changes to the Highway Code came into force on 29 January. For the official updates, please find them here.

We advise that you continue to wear face coverings (unless exempt) on public transport and in other indoor spaces. If you need to travel, follow the safer travel guidance.

Bus services🚌

There will be some disruption over the next three to four weeks to some of our older real time signs at bus stops, while we migrate these signs to a new transmitter. For live bus times, please check directly with your local operator. We apologise for any inconvenience.

Rail services 🚆

CrossCountry: There is some disruption to services. Check CrossCountry's website for the latest information.

EMR: Engineering works will cause some disruption to services travelling between Liverpool Lime Street and Nottingham/Norwich over Easter Weekend. Services are expected to be busy. Please check your journey on EMR's website before travelling.

Please check with your local operator before travelling for the latest information.

All operators in the city continue to clean vehicles thoroughly on a regular basis, and windows on buses will be kept open for ventilation.
