Last week marked the start of public hearings in the House impeachment inquiry, and while it has been difficult to hear the extent of the damage inflicted on our State Department, it’s been critical to allow the American people to hear the truth directly from those involved.
I have been doing everything I can to ensure that the American people hear all the facts before we make further decisions regarding impeachment. This is essential work to keep our democracy functioning as the framers of our Constitution intended -- because nobody is above the law.
But the Trump administration doesn’t see it that way. It has made baseless attacks against anyone trying to get to the bottom of these allegations -- especially those of us in swing states needed to win the White House in 2020. Already, a pro-Trump super PAC is preparing to spend millions in districts throughout PA. Vice President Mike Pence is visiting the districts of female representatives to undermine the inquiry and target our seats, and I have a far-right opponent spreading extremist ideology across our district.
We did incredible work organizing in 2018, and I can’t thank you enough for your support in getting us here, but no Pennsylvania seats are safe in 2020. We can’t afford to lose this district or any part of Pennsylvania in 2020 if we’re going to restore faith in our democracy and the rule of law -- and that’s why I’m personally asking for your help today.
