John,
Too often, when we talk about multiracial organizing, there's a tendency to avoid race and ask Black folks who have been on the receiving end of systemic oppression not to talk about it or act to stop it.
But here at the Working Families Party, we recognize that we need Black political power in order to build the strongest multiracial working class coalition possible. That means recognizing Black people have their own space to articulate their own needs and aspirations from a place of strength.
So at the next WFP Assembly, which is our monthly virtual gathering where we build community and renew our commitment to the movement and each other, we will be centering the voices of Black people — and in particular, the voices of Black women — who are doing groundbreaking work to challenge the status quo and empower Black voices in our political system.
Will you join us at the WFP Assembly this Sunday, November 24th at 8pm ET/5pm PT, to learn more about building the strongest multiracial working class coalition possible? You can join this virtual meeting by phone or computer from the comfort of your own home.

It's no exaggeration to say that the path to a better country and a better world comes through the liberation and empowerment of Black folks. So at the next WFP Assembly, we will have an all-star cast of Black voices to hear from including:
Stacy Davis Gates, Chicago Teachers Union Vice President and United Working Families Chair; a powerhouse negotiator during the recent Chicago teacher strike and public school champion who helps elect progressives to take on school privatizers and union busters.
Kendra Brooks, Councilwoman-elect for Philadelphia City Council; who became the first third-party candidate elected to the Philadelphia City Council in 100 years by running a campaign that centered the low-income Black and Brown Philadelphians and challenged the Democratic establishment.
Leslie Mac, WFP Member and BlackWomxnFor Digital Organizer; who is helping create intentional space for Back womxn to discuss how they can organize and flex their political power in the 2020 presidential election.
And our Assembly will begin with an introduction from our very own Britney Whaley, who has spearheaded the Bet On Us program, a project of the WFP to bring more Black women into the WFP base and decision-making process, so that we aren’t just counting on Black women to vote, mobilize, and educate — but actually invest in Black women to lead, run, and inform strategy and decision-making at the WFP.
All who are committed to building a multiracial working class movement are welcome to join us, so please RSVP for the next WFP Assembly this Sunday, November 24th at 8pm ET/5pm PT. We will have break-out groups following the speakers, so come ready to listen and participate.
In solidarity,
Team WFP
