John,
In case you missed it, the Senate just confirmed Judge Ketanji Brown Jackson to the United States Supreme Court. This is great news, and it could not have come at a more critical moment for our country.
Right now, GOP-led state legislators across the country are implementing draconian, anti-abortion policies and threatening women's constitutional right to reproductive choice. In Oklahoma, a near-total abortion ban was just passed in the state House that would see doctors literally imprisoned for performing abortions.
Texas and Mississippi both passed laws that severely restrict these freedoms and rights. The Texas law is particularly shocking -- it deputizes private citizens to turn in neighbors who violate the law for a $10,000 bounty.
It's not just in the states where this anti-choice sentiment is reaching a fever pitch. In Congress, my opponent Kevin McCarthy joined with over 200 other Republican members to urge the Supreme Court to overturn Roe v. Wade.
As a mother of a daughter, and a teacher of many young women, I'll make this as clear as possible: I support efforts to expand, not restrict, reproductive rights.
The House passed a critical piece of legislation that would make protections under
Roe v. Wade the law of the land -- no matter what the Supreme Court decides. We need the Senate to take up this bill again, and we need it now.
Add your name next to mine to tell the Senate that it's high time to pass the Women's Health Protection Act. Our voices are stronger together.
Thank you,
