We are living in a powerful moment today. The first African American woman has been confirmed to be a Supreme Court Justice.
This is why I do this work. When people show up to the polls and vote, someone like Justice Ketanji Brown Jackson gets nominated to the highest bench in our nation. It is critical that we continue fighting for voting rights here in New Mexico. It has been 55 years since the first Black man was appointed to the Supreme Court. It was way past time for a Black woman to be confirmed.
This bipartisan Senate confirmation truly honors the values we hold dear in this country.
Increasing access to the ballot box and ensuring all voices are heard in fair, honest elections is critical to moving our state forward. I will continue to fight for voting rights and election transparency for all New Mexicans. Will you pitch in $20 right now so I can continue to fight for you? We need more Black women on the bench, and I will continue to fight to ensure no one is locked out of our democracy.
