John –

Ketanji Brown Jackson was just confirmed to the U.S. Supreme Court!

In the last few weeks, we watched Jackson represent the diversity of this nation as she testified before the Senate Judiciary Committee.

America has never seen a Supreme Court Justice like Ketanji Brown Jackson. She’s the first Black woman ever nominated to our highest court and a distinguished jurist with years of experience in fairly applying our laws.

I’m proud to watch history being made today.

But despite her outstanding credentials, Justice Jackson faced a double standard, including sexism, racism and disrespect during her confirmation hearings – a reminder that even the most qualified Black women must overcome unimaginable obstacles in pursuing our passions and careers.

That’s why I’m calling on my supporters to stand with diverse candidates for office throughout our government. Until our leaders truly represent all of our communities, historic figures like Ketanji Brown Jackson will continue to face similar attacks and opposition.

Justice Jackson is more than qualified to serve on the Supreme Court, and I couldn’t be more proud to witness this moment in history.

I look forward to breaking even more barriers together this year.

Thank you,

– Marilyn
