Despite the founding promise of our nation — that ours would be a government by and for the people — Americans have always had to fight to secure our right to vote and be heard in our democracy.

Now, the right to vote is once again under attack.

Republican-controlled state legislatures, including here in North Carolina, have passed measures specifically designed to make it harder for some folks to cast a ballot. Meanwhile, their ultra-partisan gerrymandering tactics are designed to ensure that some folks’ votes matter more than others.

We can’t stand for it, John, not after coming so far.

Radical Republicans have one simple goal: to remain in power no matter the cost, by any means necessary. They’ve found that partisan gerrymandering and anti-voter legislation is a winning strategy. And disturbingly, they’ve proven that they may not respect the results of elections they don’t win.
