It's already April — which means we've got less than 90 days until the June primary election!
And while that may seem like a good amount of time, it's going to pass before we know it. So I'll get right to business on this month's campaign update — right after I take a moment to ask for your help.
Thanks to the hard work of our volunteers, we've successfully filed our petition to get Kara on the ballot. With more than twice the number of signatures required and support coming from all 11 towns in NY-01, the grassroots support behind Kara is undeniable.
Our new campaign website is something we've been working on for a while now, and I'm so pleased to be able to finally share it with you. Karaforcongress.com is now your one-stop shop to learn more about Kara, see her positions on key issues, and find ways to get involved.
in Plainview, at a recent candidate forum on gun safety and other issues, Kara was the only candidate to pledge that she wouldn't take corporate PAC money to fund this campaign.
Kara knows that the corrosive influence of money in politics is at the root of why we haven't seen progress on common sense issues like enacting gun safety measures or lowering prescription drug costs.
Kara is out here to represent you, not big money groups and corporate donors. When we say we are powered by the grassroots, we mean it.
Kara around NY-01
On March 27th, Kara joined the Pakistani American Society of New York in Hauppauge. Speaking with key stakeholders, Kara reaffirmed her commitment to our diverse communities standing against Islamophobia.
On April 2nd, Kara joined community members in Coram for a spring clean up (bringing her own trash picker and bucket she keeps in her car).
On April 6th, Kara celebrated Southold Democrats' historic wins from 2021 at Greenport Harbor Brewery in Peconic.
Stepping Up for Kara
Kara is steadfastly committed to progressive values and has the experience to fight for what matters in our community.
That's why our April Plan is straightforward. We'll continue connecting with as many voters as we can, to explain why Kara's experience and her dedication to Long Island make her the right choice for New York's 1st District. When they get to know Kara, they support her.
But just because it's straightforward doesn't mean it'll be easy. That's why we'll need resources and volunteers. And with fewer than 90 days until the primary, we'll need your support.
