John: Republicans really don't like the fact that courts have been ruling against their gerrymanders. But instead of just drawing fairer maps, they're trying every trick they can think of to keep the maps manipulated:
1) Running out the clock. The Ohio Supreme Court has now been forced to strike down the GOP's state legislative maps three times. The longer this goes on, the greater the possibility that the 2022 elections will be held on Republicans' gerrymandered maps.
2) Changing the rules to give themselves more power.

3) Promoting dangerous legal theories. They've argued to the U.S. Supreme Court that state legislatures should have sole power over congressional redistricting and elections.
4) Attempting to stack state supreme courts with their hand-picked judges if their legal theories don’t work. And in some states they’re even trying to impeach judges who ruled against them!
All this is to say that we can't afford to pause our work for even a minute –
Holder quote: "If we grow complacent and come up short in this final phase of redistricting, we will have to wait until 2031 to achieve fair maps... We can't let our guard down."
