Mama Q here — proud mother of Quinton Lucas, the 55th and current mayor of Kansas City. We all know him as Mayor Q, but I also recall the curious, carefree and focused child he was. He spent many summer days outside working on whatever he decided the day’s project would be or hanging at the local library – staying cool, and exploring the world through magazines and newspapers.

Quinton has made me proud many times over the years, but the pride I felt for him and our community when he was elected mayor – the youngest in more than a generation – it was difficult to find the words. Even as a child, he loved Kansas City, so seeing him as mayor of this great city was mind-blowing!

Quinton has always known he had to work hard to succeed. That same sense of hard work has served him as mayor, which explains why he has accomplished so much during his first term, and it’s why I know he’ll continue to work hard to promote positive changes for all Kansas Citians.

Time has passed quickly, and the primary election is just one year away! If we’re going to keep Quinton fighting for us, we need to raise the money to run ads, pay for staff, etc. – all things needed to run a winning campaign.
