Dear?JOhn,

Changing laws and mindsets is only possible through persistent activism and on Tuesday night at our annual Make Equality Reality Gala?we honored Chimamanda Ngozi Adichie and Scarlett Curtis, who use the written word to do just that.

The positive energy in the room was inspiring as over 300 guests joined us to celebrate equality and everyday activism. The honorees spoke from the heart about their passion for this cause. Chimamanda Ngozi Adichie urged the crowd that we all must work together for real and lasting change to happen, envisioning a world in which both men and women are able to live full emotional lives. Scarlett Curtis, the recipient of the second annual Changemaker Award presented by Gucci and CHIME FOR CHANGE, spoke about how feminism and raising up the voices and work of other feminists gives her reason to keep going in this fight.

Compelling performances from the Resistance Revival Chorus, Shoba Narayan, Linda Perry and the GoodCapp Arts Theater Ensemble along with remarks from Margaret Atwood and Audrey Gelman and original pieces about the Equal Rights Amendment and a community reading of We Should All Be Feminists made it a night of arts and activism to remember.
