Yesterday was a busy news day, so it’s not surprising some people may have missed this story. But I think it’s crucial that the people of Iowa know what our elected representative is doing in Washington.
It’s tragic that addressing domestic abuse has somehow become partisan. In a truly astonishing and disturbing move, Senator Joni Ernst, our voice in Washington, blocked the vote on the Violence Against Women Act (VAWA).
Senator Feinstein, who introduced the bill, said, “This bill is not a Democratic bill. It is not a Republican bill. This bill is a survivors’ bill. It’s written with the help of survivors who know what’s needed in the real world.”
If you believe our representatives should focus on survivors of domestic abuse rather than the interests of the NRA and big donors, I ask you to join my campaign--a campaign that will not sell out our personal safety.
Your investment in this campaign will speak volumes to the establishment and allow me to keep fighting for all Iowans from the U.S. Senate, just as I have done in my legal career for vulnerable kids and families.
