Team —
President Joe Biden entered office with the promise to strengthen and diversify the federal judiciary. And he has delivered on that promise.
I am so proud to be able to say that Judge Ketanji Brown Jackson has officially been voted through the Senate to serve as an Associate Justice of the Supreme Court. She will be the first Black woman to serve on the highest court in the land — but certainly not the last.
She has shown beyond a doubt that she is worthy to carry on Justice Stephen Breyer’s legacy. The courage Judge Jackson demonstrated during her rigorous confirmation process shows just how equipped she is to fight for justice for all Americans.
America’s diversity is part of what makes our country so great. And our institutions will now look more like the people who they represent.
I am so proud of Judge Jackson for making it to the finish line, despite the obstacles that were thrown in front of her.
Today, I am optimistic about America's future and the work that we have done and will continue to do, together.
As always – it’s an honor to serve you,
Derek Kilmer
