Friend, what an exciting and historic day! Her confirmation is well deserved and a beacon of hope for Black women across the country. It’s long overdue.
Judge Jackson is one of the most qualified Justices to join the bench in years, bringing extraordinary experience, deep intellect, and a rigorous judicial record to the Supreme Court.
For more than 20 hours of questioning by members of the Senate Judiciary Committee, she thoughtfully and thoroughly answered questions, demonstrating the depth and breadth of her decade of experience across the legal system.
Some on the committee, like Senators John Cornyn and Ted Cruz, tried to mischaracterize Judge Jackson’s record and their line of questioning was inflammatory and duplicitous. However, Judge Jackson showed the grace and temperament required for a Supreme Court Justice when she masterfully explained the law in her answers.
Today is a day of celebration for our country and this historic moment.
For far too long, people of color haven’t seen themselves reflected at the highest levels of American politics.
Judge Jackson's rise to the highest court means that children across the country will see someone who looks like us, our mothers, and our sisters. She’s inspiring a new generation of judicial minds and proving that while we still have much more progress to make, together we’re building a more perfect union.
