Last Sunday was a bloody one in Northern California. In the early morning hours on Sunday April 3^rd, as people were leaving a night club in downtown Sacramento, automatic weapons fire rang out sending people fleeing. When the victims were counted, 18 people were shot and six were dead.

Assembly Progressives' Solution to Astronomical Gas Prices? Increase Taxes on Gas

Only in California will you witness Assembly progressives hijacking a bill ([link removed]) that suspends a tax to gut-and-amend it with language that enacts a new tax.
Assemblymember Kevin Kiley (R-Rocklin) introduced Assembly Bill 1638 ([link removed]) at the beginning of this year in response to the considerable jump in gas prices following the Russian invasion of Ukraine. Factors such as 1) the post-pandemic demand for gas as more and more cars are on the roads, 2) cuts in the oil production from oil-producing nations during the pandemic and a slow start to ramping up production, and 3) the U.S. sanctions on Russian oil and gas imports have all contributed to the current average state gas price of $5.91 ([link removed]) , with that number changing every day according to AAA.
