Friend,
Right now, we have a chance to officially demand stronger clean air standards—but time is running out. Sign an official public comment telling the EPA to restore and strengthen the Mercury and Air Toxics Standards now.
Here's the TL;DR: Trump-era officials gutted a critical EPA clean air standard, and right now the EPA is considering bringing it back. We can weigh in with a public comment and demand that it come back even stronger.
But the window closes this Monday, April 11, and I saw you hadn't signed on yet. Will you join over 3,500 other Evergreen supporters and sign an official public comment? (We'll submit it directly to EPA decision-makers on your behalf!)
Restoring this rule is a key part of securing 100% clean power by 2035. It's our road map for achieving President Biden's climate commitments by winning clean power victories across every level of government—and it starts right here, right now with these public comments!
Let's do this,

Friend,
Let's state the obvious: Clean air is necessary.
That's why the Environmental Protection Agency was created—to enforce the Clean Air Act and stop polluters. It's the definition of appropriate work for the agency.
But in 2020, the Trump administration gutted a key public health standard from the EPA, claiming that it was not "appropriate or necessary" for the agency to limit toxic air pollution from power plants.
To put it mildly, we disagree. That's why we're thrilled that the EPA is reconsidering this Trump-era change—and right now, we have a chance to not only bring the rule back, but strengthen it. Will you sign an official public comment today to tell the EPA that clean air is "appropriate and necessary"? (We'll submit it on your behalf directly to EPA decision-makers!)
Coal- and oil-fired power plants are directly harming families across the U.S. by contributing to high rates of asthma, cancer, heart disease, and other health threats—and those hardest hit are children, Indigenous communities, people of color, and low-income communities.
Since 2012, the EPA's Mercury and Air Toxics Standards (MATS) have dramatically reduced the toxic air pollutants linked to these diseases and improved air quality for all Americans, especially these at-risk communities—until the Trump Administration gutted the rule.
Every single one of us deserves clean air. Will you sign an official public comment right now demanding the EPA restore MATS and set even stronger standards to reduce toxic air pollution?
This is an opportunity to directly influence policy and push the EPA to do more to protect our families and communities. We'll submit these public comments straight to EPA decision-makers, so sign yours today and help win clean air for all!
Together,
Lena Moffitt
