Earlier this week, the United National Intergovernmental Panel on Climate Change released a chilling report that makes it clear we are running out of time to save our planet for future generations.

It made clear that unless we act boldly, and with speed, we are going to see more drought, more wildfire, more severe weather, more disease, more famine, more climate migration, and more human suffering.

In California, we know better than most the impact of climate change. It’s already part of our life.

We have seen historic wildfires, world-record temperatures, orange skies, drought, and more.

That is why we are treating climate change like the emergency it is.

That is why we have made record investments to protect our communities, to strengthen clean air laws, and the largest single investment in wildfire preparedness in our state’s history.

That is why we are requiring cars sold to be zero-emission vehicles by 2035.

But California cannot solve the climate crisis by ourselves. We need a Congress that acts. And the truth is, if Democrats don’t hold the House and Senate in 2022, Republicans probably won’t act on this issue.

There are a number of close races in California that may determine control of the House. And every vote I turn out in my re-election will be a vote for those Democrats as well.

But I cannot do it alone. So I am asking:

Can you please make a contribution — $3 or whatever you can afford — to my re-election campaign today? We’ll put your donation right to work keeping California BLUE in 2022.

Thank you again. I appreciate your support.

Gavin
