Hey Y'all,
Here are a couple chapter updates and items we have our eye on this week!
,
- This year's Louisiana Legislature is entertaining some particularly heinous bills, from denying trans children access to healthcare resources to a full on assault on our reproductive rights. A right of all people is to stand up and fight back through a variety of ways including protest. House Bill 101 aka the "Kyle Rittenhouse" Bill would make murder of protestors a justifiable homicide in defense of private property. You can contact your Louisiana House Representative by finding who they are at bit.ly/MYLAREP and let them know this bill is an attack on all citizens and in many ways gives a free pass to those who would suppress our voice and our rights. If there are other bills in this Legislative session that you think could use amplification, or you would like more information about how to track and engage with the session, please reach out to [email protected]!
- Tuesday April 26th at 6pm Join us for a de-escalation and crisis response skillshare. We will discuss the importance community support and what that looks like in real terms! You can RSVP for this event at bit.ly/DSASKILLSHARE
-
We will be holding an election for Chapter Secretary at our next General Meeting, Saturday, April 23rd. The Secretary holds a voting seat on our Local Council and is responsible for recording and organizing minutes, resolutions, reports, and other official records of the DSA New Orleans chapter. If you're interested in the role and would like more details, or you would like to nominate yourself or another member, please email us at [email protected]! All members are eligible to run for this position. Register for the meeting here.
Solidarity Y'all!

New to DSA? Check out our chapter's new member resources here. If you've got any questions about how to get involved or the work our chapter is doing, give us a shout at [email protected].
Not yet a member? The most important tool that the working class has is organization. We're strong when we fight together. We have to build a durable, mass political organization to wield the kind of power we need to win real change in our society. If you aren't a dues-paying member of DSA yet, join today!
