John,
Our current economic reality does not work for the people. Over the course of the past two years, our communities have had to grapple with a global health pandemic, a burgeoning war, and immense inflation. All of which has led to a boost in price gouging Americans at the gas pump, the grocery store, and almost any other sector of our economy.
Instead of asking citizens to continue paying higher and higher prices for gasoline, food, and other basic necessities, the time has come to demand that large, profitable corporations make less money.
That's why Rep. Bowman has teamed up with Sen. Bernie Sanders to introduce the Ending Corporate Greed Act. John, if you stand with Jamaal as he takes on the greed of pandemic profiteers, works to lower prices for everyday Americans, and fights inflation, please add your name in support of The Ending Corporate Greed Act today.
We cannot continue to force struggling, working families to pay the price for the greed of large, profitable corporations.
The Ending Corporate Greed Act will impose a 95% tax on the windfall profits of corporations with more than $500 million in annual revenue. It will eliminate the incentive for companies to use inflation as an opportunity to prey on the public to further enrich their executives and shareholders. And, in likeness to past windfall profit taxes enacted during times of crisis, this bill will ensure that companies are unable to profiteer off of wars.
During these troubling times, working people cannot bear the brunt of this period of economic crisis. The Ending Corporate Greed Act has the potential to make a major impact in how we take on our day to day costs, but only if we can build enough support for Rep. Bowman's work in Congress.
In solidarity,
Bowman for Congress
