This was a historic week in the impeachment process. We heard from multiple witnesses who all confirmed that Trump tried to extort the president of Ukraine to open an investigation into Joe Biden, hoping to damage his presidential campaign. It was a big week and we thought we'd sum up some of the most important news here:
- On Tuesday, Lt. Col. Alexander Vindman, a top Ukraine expert in the White House, called Trump's request for the investigation into Biden "inappropriate and improper."
- Kurt Volker, the former U.S. envoy to Ukraine, said Tuesday that the investigations Trump pushed were "inappropriate," and Trump's accusations were "conspiracy theories" and "not credible."
- Trump's own pick for E.U. Ambassador, Gordon Sondland, confirmed yesterday that there was a clear quid pro quo and said Trump, Mike Pence, Secretary of State Mike Pompeo, and other officials in the administration were all aware of what was going on.
- To top it all off, Republicans spent their time smearing credible witnesses, including a Purple Heart recipient.

Make no mistake, this impeachment investigation wouldn't be happening if Democrats hadn't taken back the House in 2018 and backed an impeachment investigation this fall. Virginia Democrats were on the front lines of both of these fights. Every Democrat in our Congressional delegation has supported the impeachment investigation and they're all doing crucial work to build the case against Trump.

The witnesses have been clear: Trump tried to extort one of our allies to bully them into interfering in our presidential election. We need to hold him accountable and keep our Congressional delegation blue. Can we count on you to chip in?
