John --
April is a busy month at FairVote,
so we didn't want to wait to share these upcoming events. We hope
you'll join us and consider supporting FairVote by participating in
our virtual auction.
Virtual Auction for
FairVote Awards
Next
week, FairVote is celebrating three luminaries who
help make our reform vision possible. If you can't be in New York City, you can
still be a part of our celebration by bidding on an experience - from
tickets to see Late Night
with Seth Meyers to meals
with our honorees - to musical instruments donated by Krist Novoselic
and Ingrid Michaelson.

Beyond Winner-Take-All:
Harvard Symposium feat. Rob Richie

Proportional Voting in the United States." Harvard's Danielle Allen, FairVote's Rob
Richie, and former Utah state legislator Rebecca Chavez-Houck will

what it will take to enact it. Register here to join the event on April 19, 4 - 5pm

Structural Reform & Civic Healing: A
conversation with Rep. Jamie Raskin
American Promise continues its series of
conversations with top American leaders on April 20,
2022 at 8:00 PM ET with a
conversation between U.S. Representative Jamie Raskin (MD-08) and AP
Board Member and actress Debra Winger in an event cosponsored by
FairVote. What to expect:
- Rep. Jamie Raskin will discuss his book Unthinkable: Trauma, Truth, and the Trials of American Democracy, describing the 45-day period in 2020 when he lost his son to suicide and, a week later, faced down an insurrection at the U.S. Capitol with his daughter by his side.
- He will share how these experiences have reinforced the need to protect our democracy through structural and civic healing and reform, where he’s sure to lift up his support for ranked choice voting and the Fair Representation Act.
- He will publicly and frankly discuss how current crises are affecting the mental health of many Americans, especially young people.
While serving in Congress and
representing Maryland’s 8th District, U.S. Rep. Raskin has been a leading advocate and co-sponsor of legislation to bring
ranked choice voting to American cities, counties, and
states.
Registration: April 20th at 8 PM
ET
On our reform
work, we’re excited by progress in state legislatures this year and
new signs that ranked choice voting will be on even more ballots this
November. Keep up with the latest through our social media channels
and website.
