Paul LePage is back to his old behavior again. Over the weekend, he spoke at a Republican fundraiser and he didn’t hold anything back in his attempt to promote his radical beliefs.

LePage used this opportunity to endorse Trump’s Big Lie, and claimed without evidence that the 2020 election was stolen. He even dredged up another falsehood all the way back from 2009, claiming that voters from Massachusetts cast ballots in Maine: "I have met some people… it was during the the gay marriage referendum few years back came up on a bus from Massachusetts. I was the mayor at the time. They stayed at a hotel in Waterville, overnight, voted and left the next day." – this is not only a blatant lie, but it was fully debunked by Maine’s Secretary of State at the time.

Not only is LePage undermining our democracy, but he is so opposed to the idea of basic rights for LGBTQ+ Mainers that he needs to invent a conspiracy to explain Mainers’ overwhelming support for marriage equality.

LePage also ranted that any person who votes in Maine, “ pays taxes in Maine, and is part of Maine's economy. ”

Paul LePage has lived in Florida since 2018. He pays taxes in Florida. He registered to vote in Florida. By his own standards, Paul LePage wouldn’t be able to vote.

Of course, secure elections are a vital aspect of a functioning democracy, but the truth is LePage doesn’t actually care about election security, he only cares about getting back in power. He’s just trying to undermine faith in our elections for political gains. Paul LePage is a threat to democracy and he must be stopped.
