[1]Alessandra Biaggi - Democrat for Congress

One of the issues that inspired me to take a leap of faith and challenge my right-wing state senator in 2018 was his history of obstructing progress on abortion rights in New York.

You see, the Reproductive Health Act, legislation that codified legal abortion on the state level, was introduced in the state legislature in 2007 to protect New Yorkers in the event that Roe v. Wade was overturned.

But for over ten years, the RHA remained in the legislative graveyard — because Republicans, and fake Democrats like my state senator, were preventing its passage.

I knew I had to do something, especially in the wake of Donald Trump’s election — so I ran for office against the very man standing in the way of codifying Roe, despite the fact that so many people were telling me I didn’t have a chance.

You probably know where this is going — after my election in 2018, I joined Democrats in the State Senate to pass the Reproductive Health Act and protect the right to an abortion in New York state during the very first month after taking office.

Now, even with Joe Biden in the White House and Democrats in the majority in both the House and Senate, Roe v. Wade is under attack. And truthfully, it’s time for Democrats in Congress to take our state’s lead and get serious about protecting the right to an abortion. The fight to protect the right to choose feels hopeless these days, but I know we can change the course, because I’ve done it before.

As your representative for NY-3, I will do everything in my power to support access to reproductive healthcare. But I’ll need your help to get there, so please:

Make a contribution of $5 to my campaign today to help me win this campaign and take my work supporting abortion rights to Congress.
