Merely 20 years ago, only one state let residents carry firearms without a license. Now, 23 states have passed permitless carry laws.
Our country is on a deadly track, John: Lawmakers across the United States are passing NRA-backed laws that allow anyone to carry concealed firearms in public spaces WITHOUT a permit, safety training, or a background check.
Meanwhile, the Supreme Court is hearing a case that could lift restrictions on permitless carry across the country and "gut U.S. gun laws" as we know them – this is exactly the opposite of what our country needs.
The truth is that the NRA's guns everywhere agenda is not what the American people want. The majority of Americans support bipartisan, common-sense gun safety laws that save lives – and there could not be a more critical time to make this undeniably clear.
