-- Seth Magaziner, Op-Ed, The Providence Journal

"Rhode Islanders are grappling with the highest inflation rate in a generation, with the cost of everything from food and fuel to health care reaching all-time highs."

Team,

Rhode Islanders urgently need relief from the rising cost of living. Right now, even Rhode Islanders with good-paying jobs are getting squeezed by rising prices in food, essential goods, and housing -- just about everything.

The economy isn't working the way it should for middle class Americans. And we need Congress to tackle the issue head-on.

First, Congress needs to temporarily suspend the federal gas tax so Rhode Islanders can see immediate relief at the pump. Then, to combat any lost revenue from freezing the gas tax Congress should implement a minimum 15% tax on corporations and close loopholes that allow big businesses to shift profits overseas.

Also, Congress can lower the cost of prescription drugs by allowing Medicare to negotiate prices with the drug companies. This is just common sense and would help people make ends meet.

There are concrete things we can do to help people keep up and I'm ready to lead the fight in Congress.

Read my op-ed in The Providence Journal to learn more about my plan to fight for Rhode Islanders by addressing the rising cost of living.
