Jack,
Nearly 8 North Carolinians die every day from an opioid overdose. That’s why we’re proud to see that North Carolina is getting $750 million from Big Pharma as part of a settlement for them acknowledging their role in the opioid crisis.
The numbers are staggering. Opioid use has skyrocketed over the last few years, and, as a result, so have the number of deaths. We have a problem on our hands, and not only are people all across our state dying in huge numbers, but Big Pharma is doing nothing about it.
That's where we come in. We are here to make a change. When we knock on doors of ignored communities, they aren’t talking about politicians or who to vote for – they’re talking about how their cousin just passed away from a drug overdose or how they can’t make ends meet on $7.25/hour – the current NC minimum wage.
We hope you’ll stand with us as we fight back and ensure that voices of color are heard at the polls.
The opioid epidemic is a fatal one, but luckily, with this settlement, we will be able to make the necessary industry changes that protect and guide our state towards progress.
Thanks for fighting the good fight,
Kay Brown
