Answering some of your questions about this year's Earth Day at Sierra Club
Hi Supporter,
Happy Earth Month! I can’t believe it’s already April, but I am certainly enjoying the arrival of spring here in the Northeast.
I wanted to share the story behind this year’s Earth Month tee with you. As you may know, every year we create a tee shirt and encourage folks to wear it on their Earth Day hike, bike, trash clean-up, gardening session, etc. We’ve had some incredible partners in the past, but this year we decided to do something different.
We always have supporters ask about where the shirts come from, what they’re made of, and what the environmental impact of producing these shirts is. I knew that there had to be some way to tie our sustainability mission into our Earth Day shirt in an even deeper way.
So, I did some research and, inspired by some major fashion brands upcycled lines (think Marine Layer ReSpun or Urban Renewal), we decided to take an upcycled approach. We found a wonderful partner who worked with us to take some of our leftover stock and source a few thousand donated tee shirts. These shirts would’ve otherwise sat collecting dust or ended up in a landfill, and we’re excited to give them new life.
Our partner performed a thorough quality check, professionally laundered them, and turned them into something new and exciting. We’ve flipped the shirts inside out, printed a cool graphic on the inside, and voila! The 2022 Upcycled Earth Day Tee!
You may get a shirt with a previous year’s Earth Day graphic on the inside or you may get a tee that someone decided to donate rather than toss out. Each shirt is unique and has its own story – and don’t worry, they’ve all been professionally cleaned!
Here I am wearing my Earth Day tee – the inside of it has a United Airlines logo. You can get yours here – I’m really looking forward to seeing everyone’s unique shirts and learn about where you’re getting out and about this Earth Month!
Thanks for all you do,
Jenny
P.S. - Shipping takes 5-10 business days and is US only. Because each shirt is unique, we cannot take color requests. Embrace the surprise :)
