,

When the Biden administration announced that it would terminate the inhumane Title 42 expulsion order, it marked a critical— and long overdue — step forward towards improving access to asylum and protection in the United States. The weaponization of Title 42 has effectively shut down access to asylum for more than two years, putting thousands of people in harm’s way.

It’s only been a few days since this announcement, and we’ve already seen a wave of Republicans announce that they will do everything in their power to derail our progress and revive Title 42 expulsions. Yesterday, Senate Republicans blocked crucial COVID-19 relief legislation unless the Senate took up xenophobic amendments to reinstate Title 42. We need all hands on deck, . Urge your senators to oppose any forthcoming anti-immigrant amendments to the COVID-19 relief bill. >>>

It’s important to remember that Congressional leaders, health experts, and top CDC officials have repeatedly pointed out that there has never been a public health justification for Title 42 expulsions. It was always about politics, not public health. And now once again, Republicans are using a COVID-19 relief bill to play politics with peoples’ lives. These proposed amendments would force federal agencies to keep border expulsions in place, thus forcibly removing thousands of people seeking refuge — denying them their legal right to asylum.

, you joined thousands of advocates standing with the Biden administration’s decision to end Title 42 expulsions. Now, we must send a strong message to the Senate to vote NO on any amendment that will block access to asylum at the border. Join us in calling on your senators to oppose efforts to politicize access to asylum under the guise of public health. >>>

Thank you for speaking up at this critical moment.
