Lizzie led Texas’ Democratic congressional delegation in writing a letter to the Centers for Medicare and Medicaid Services asking the Biden administration to return Planned Parenthood as a Medicaid provider after state leaders removed Planned Parenthood due to false claims.
About 8,000 Texans lost their source of reproductive health care when Planned Parenthood was dropped as a Medicaid provider. This is an issue of health care and it’s an issue of reproductive rights. Texans should be able to choose any qualified provider for their reproductive care needs, and Lizzie will continue fighting to ensure Texans can access the care they need. |
Transgender Visibility Day last week holds particular significance for Texans. Gov. Greg Abbott’s recent, nakedly political order directing the Department of Family and Protective Services to investigate parents who provide gender-affirming care to their children has sent shock and fear throughout the trans community in Texas and around the country. As our transgender neighbors become more visible, they can face more discrimination and even violence.
#TeamLizzie stands with the trans community in TX-07 and across the country. Lizzie knows that Gov. Abbott’s directive is at odds with our values as Texans, and that’s why she supports the Equality Act and codifying anti-discrimination protections for the LGBTQ+ community, in TX-07 and everywhere.
Thank you for being a part of the team, Team Lizzie |
