Right now, the world is on track to warm by 2.7 degrees by the year 2100. This is a catastrophic scenario.
The burning of fossil fuels accounts for 86% of carbon emissions, and unless we rapidly transition away from fossil fuels to clean sources of energy, all other efforts to fight climate change will not matter.
The latest climate report from the United Nations already makes it clear that we can no longer avoid irreversible impacts from climate change.
The science is clear as can be: we must make a rapid transition away from fossil fuels. That’s why, at The Six PAC, we only support candidates running for Congress who will be climate champions and fight for a Green New Deal.
Critical environmental reasons aside, the less we depend on fossil fuels and gas-powered vehicles, the less vulnerable we are to soaring oil prices.
That’s exactly why President Biden just announced plans to increase domestic production of minerals needed to manufacture batteries for electric vehicles and long-term energy storage.
We already knew that the U.S. (and the rest of the world) needs to drastically reduce our dependence on fossil fuels. Putin’s brutal invasion of Ukraine simply reaffirms that need.
