Hi John,
Here's a horrifying statistic: Texas went from rejecting less than 1 in 100 mail-in ballots in last year's general election to 1 in 6 in last month's primaries.
What caused the spike? Texans are now beholden to new, unnecessary, Republican-passed anti-voter laws that included bans on 24-hour polling spots and drive-through voting, limits on voting by mail, and complicated personal ID requirements.
These Republican laws make it harder for everyone to vote -- and especially target people from minority groups.
Here's the good news: Run for Something alums have led the charge to defend Texans' freedom to vote. Harris County Judge Lina Hidalgo's efforts increased turnout in her county by over 6 points, and Harris County Attorney Christian Menefee kept the legal heat on the state in the meantime. State Representatives Erin Zwiener, James Talarico, and John Bucy all joined the historic walkout last summer to try and stop these anti-voter laws.
That's why we need to elect more diverse young progressives like them who will fight for our freedom to vote -- in Texas, in every state legislature, and in every election administration role in this country.
We all deserve safe, fair, accessible voting. Help fight for democracy and our freedom to vote by chipping in $5 or whatever you can.

These voter suppression laws never stay in one place. Last year, 19 states passed anti-voter laws. As of February this year, 27 state legislatures have introduced anti-voter proposals.
This is why it's so important that diverse young progressives run for office all across the country -- in red states, blue states, and everything in between.
And that's why the focus on candidates for state and local election administrator offices is one of Run for Something's big priorities this year.
Let's fight for democracy, John. $5 (or more!) goes a long way to back diverse young progressives defending our freedom to vote.
Let's go,
