The Supreme Court is tasked with upholding our constitution. It’s a big job -- which is why it’s so important that the justices are able to rule fairly and objectively, without any conflicts of interest.

But last month, we learned that in the midst of an armed insurrection against our nation’s Capitol, Supreme Court Justice Clarence Thomas’s wife was encouraging then White House Chief of Staff Mark Meadows to overturn the results of the 2020 election.

How can we trust Clarence Thomas to uphold our democracy and our constitution when he sat by while his wife actively tried to destroy it?

Ginni Thomas can do whatever crazy things she wants. But Supreme Court Justice Clarence Thomas cannot rule on a case that would disclose the crazy things Ginni Thomas was doing. That was a clear conflict of interest. Justice Thomas once again dishonors the Supreme Court. At the bare minimum, Thomas must recuse himself from any future cases involving the insurrection.
