John, a couple of
days ago a new corporate-backed challenger officially filed to run against
Cori for the Democratic nomination for Missouri's 1st Congressional
district. 

We were overwhelmed to see how many of you posted online to show your
support for Cori and have pledged to help our campaign leading up to this
competitive primary. It fills our hearts to see how energized this
people-powered movement is to keep Cori in Congress. 

You see, when Cori first ran for Congress, there was so much doubt. No one
thought that someone like Cori could be elected to office. You don’t meet
that many members of Congress who’ve been evicted, lived in their car, or
even lived paycheck to paycheck. 

But that’s exactly why it was so important for us to send Cori to
Congress. Because it’s everyday people that should be driving our politics
and pushing for the solutions that matter most to folks like
you, John.

People power is the reason why we were able to defeat a 20-year incumbent
and make Cori the first Black woman to represent Missouri in Congress and
the first activist from the movement in defense of Black lives to be
elected to federal office. And people power is how we’re going to make
sure Cori stays in office.

Together we’ve made so much progress already in Cori’s first term in
office. But our work isn't finished yet. 

People are still going to bed hungry. Folks in St. Louis are still being
evicted in the midst of an ever-changing pandemic. And the climate crisis
threatens us all. We need to pass critical legislation including Medicare
for All, the Green New Deal for Cities, and the People's Response Act —
families and future generations are counting on us. 

To be honest with you though, it’s going to be a battle to make sure we
keep this seat. We won our race last year by just three points and GOP
donors are planning on spending millions to support Cori’s latest
challenger. 

Everyone is watching our campaign to see if we’re scared. Let’s show them
