Right now, qualified immunity shields police from accountability, prevents
real justice, and undermines the constitutional rights of every person in
this country.

But progress is being made. The U.S. House Judiciary Committee just held a
hearing on my bill, that I introduced with Representative Justin Amash, to
finally end qualified immunity. This is urgent work and every
representative should vote on this legislation.

vital legislation?

The disproportionate hurt and harm that qualified immunity has inflicted
on Black and brown communities was not inadvertent — it was precise. It
was targeted. It was legislated. It was codified.

And so we must legislate precisely to correct these injustices and
transform our criminal (in)justice system.

[ [link removed] ]So add your name today to show your support for ending qualified
immunity and finally holding accountable police officers who violate
peoples’ constitutional rights.

Thank you for making your voice heard. Together we will continue to fight
to end these injustices. In solidarity,
