UPenn Nursing Receives $125 Million to Support Underserved Communities
Leonard A. Lauder, chair emeritus of the Estee Lauder Companies and a graduate of UPenn, is making the largest gift ever to an American nursing school: $125 million to the school of nursing to recruit, train, and deploy nurse practitioners to underserved communities across the U.S. The first-of-its kind tuition-free program will select 10 fellows this fall. Utah Gov. Signs Advanced Practice Registered Nurse Compact
The APRN Compact will come into effect once seven states have enacted the legislation&mdash;and now there are three. Utah&rsquo;s governor on March 24 saw to it that his state joined North Dakota and Delaware: He signed the law that will allow an APRN to hold one multistate license with a privilege to practice in other compact states.

Documentary Shows How Nurse Persevered To Help Others
A documentary from Shift puts the spotlight on Whitney Fear, MSN, PMHNP-BC, who grew up on the Pine Ridge Reservation in South Dakota. Being raised in one of the poorest areas in the U.S. led Fear to her passion and lifework, now featured in &ldquo;Who Cares: A Nurse&rsquo;s Focus on Equity.&rdquo; The documentary explores Fear and her holistic approach to treating behavioral health and substance use disorders.

Signing day is big in sports, and now it&rsquo;s big in nursing&mdash;or should be. The first ever Nurses Signing Day, May 6, is designed to celebrate graduating seniors who have committed to a college or university to become nurses. New - UPenn Community Program Seeks Faculty Director, Executive Director
The newly created Leonard A. Lauder Community Care Nurse Practitioner Program, a result of the $125 million gift from Lauder, an alumnus of the University of Pennsylvania (see item above), seeks both a faculty director and an executive director. The tuition-free program will prepare a diverse cadre of expert nurse practitioners to support underserved communities across the U.S.

AARP Foundation To Fund Direct-Service Projects: Apply
Have a direct-service project that supports older adults, and is in pilot stage or is ready to go? AARP Foundation seeks applications for projects in either stage that advance economic opportunity among low-income older adults. The early application process asks would-be grantees to outline how their project reflects a commitment to equity and how outcomes align with AARP Foundation&rsquo;s mission and objectives. Pre-application deadline: April 15, 5 p.m. ET.

The Interdisciplinary Research Leaders, a three-year leadership development program, aims to support action-oriented research collaborations with the goal of dismantling structural racism and advancing health equity. The Health Resources and Services Administration invites nurses to apply to the Nurse Corps Scholarship Program, which provides scholarships to nursing students in exchange for a minimum two-year full-time service commitment (or part-time equivalent), at an eligible health care facility with a critical shortage of nurses.
