Dear People For Supporter, Equal justice under law. It’s a concept so fundamental to our legal system that it’s engraved on our Supreme Court. And it’s a principle that Judge Ketanji Brown Jackson has pledged to uphold when she joins that Court as its first Black woman justice. We expect her confirmation vote to happen later this week, and our courts experts believe that the votes are now there for her to be confirmed. Throughout this process, People For has worked to lift up the ways in which Judge Jackson’s record and background demonstrate her commitment to fighting for justice for all, not just the wealthy and well-connected. One particular case stands out in this record: that of William Pierce, a deaf man incarcerated at the DC Correctional Treatment Facility, who was denied sign language interpreters and placed in solitary confinement – a man who received justice thanks to the fair-minded judicial review of Judge Jackson. We’ve produced a special video to highlight this case, featuring Richard Ray, the accessibility expert in Pierce’s case. Please watch this moving video and then share it with some friends on social media in support of Judge Jackson’s confirmation. We still have a lot of work to do in order to bend the moral arc toward justice, and free our courts from far-right domination – and People For is committed to that long-term vision. But for now, we look forward to Judge Jackson’s confirmation – and hope you’ll celebrate with us by sharing this video to highlight her amazing record and help rebut all the baseless attacks she has endured during this process. Thanks for all you do to fight for the American Way! – Ben Jealous, President
