Here at the Center for Responsible Lending, we are fueled by the belief that everyone deserves an opportunity to gain economic security and that financial services should provide a fair and affordable path for building wealth, not leave borrowers worse off.
We are encouraged by our successes and
progress made in 2019. From a long overdue rate cap win in California, to groundbreaking research regarding student loan debt, to powerful testimony analyzing the role of the nation's housing finance system in the racial wealth gap, our staff has been hard at work fighting for a fair and inclusive marketplace.

There are still significant threats. Payday lenders are pushing the Trump Administration to roll back federal underwriting requirements on 400% interest loans and the Department of Education is making rules that favor for-profit colleges over students. With the obstacles ahead of us and the wind at our back, we are gearing up for another year of relentless advocacy on behalf of low-income communities, communities of color, women, veterans, and other underserved communities.
We ask you to join us in our important work to promote policy solutions that ensure a fair and inclusive marketplace, and to please consider making a tax-deductible donation to the Center for Responsible Lending.
Sincerely,
Executive Vice President
