Friend,

Immigrants trying to adjust their status in any way have hit another roadblock.

Last week, the Trump Administration announced that it wants to increase the price of many U.S. Citizenship and Immigration Services (USCIS) processes -- from DACA applications to naturalization to work permits and more.

Currently, Dreamers with DACA pay $495 to renew an application; Trump wants to raise that to $765. Currently, green card holders seeking to obtain citizenship pay $640; Trump wants them to pay $1,170.

Perhaps most alarmingly, the Trump Administration wants to charge asylum applicants a fee to seek safety in the U.S. Experts and advocates have already pointed out how cruel it would be to charge people fleeing for their lives $50 just to be able to apply for refuge.

The new rate plan is scheduled to go into effect in early December, but we can take action right now. By law, USCIS has a 30-day public comment period in which it is obligated to consider the public's opinion before implementing the fee increase.

This is our opportunity to speak up. Submit a public comment here to oppose the fee increase. [link removed]

You can write something like:

"America has always been a nation of immigrants. This proposed fee increase is nothing but an attempt to keep future Americans out of our country. And, charging asylum seekers whose lives are in danger a fee just so they can apply for safety is unconscionable. I strongly oppose this fee increase."

Tell the Trump Administration that these fee hikes are wrong. Submit your public comment TODAY. [link removed]

Thank you for your support,
