Help stop cruelty to farm animals

Farm animals need heroes like you.

I recently wrote to you about Farm Sanctuary's work to end the abuse and slaughter of "downed" farm animals.

These vulnerable animals still need your help.

First, our No Downers Campaign achieved a nationwide ban on the slaughter of adult cows too sick, injured, or weak to stand or walk under their own power. Then, we strengthened the ban to protect downed calves, too. But the ban is still incomplete: The factory farming
industry continues to abuse hundreds of thousands of downed pigs, goats, sheep, and other animals every year.

Farm Sanctuary is working to end this cruelty and create a better world for all beings. That's why we are suing the U.S. Department of Agriculture (USDA) for failing to protect sick or
injured animals.

But we need compassionate people like you to join us in the fight. I know you believe that animals deserve better than the misery they face on factory farms. If you're in a position to help, I hope you will be the hero they need by becoming a member of Farm Sanctuary today.

In our last email, we shared the story of Julia: a pig who was kicked, beaten, and burned with an electric cattle prod on a factory farm. When Julia finally collapsed from the abuse, employees dragged her by her ears into the crate where she was to give birth.

Thankfully, Farm Sanctuary rescued Julia in the nick of time! Only hours after Julia arrived at our New York shelter, she gave birth to 16 premature piglets. Julia spent the rest of her life with us. And, instead of being slaughtered at just six months old, her piglets, including Bella, Betty, and Liza, grew up free to play in the mud and frolic in our pastures-thanks to kind hearted friends like you.

Farm Sanctuary was established in 1986-almost 36 years ago. Since then, we have rescued thousands of animals like Julia from life-threatening cruelty and neglect at farms, stockyards, and slaughterhouses-and given them a permanent home at our Sanctuaries and at other loving homes through our Farm Animal Adoption Network. In stark contrast to the factory farming industry, we treat farm animals as our friends-not faceless commodities.

We make a promise to provide these beings with a lifetime of love and excellent care. If you can, please help us keep that promise by joining Farm Sanctuary with a generous, tax-deductible gift today.

As a small "thank you" for taking the next step in your commitment to farm animals, you will receive exclusive benefits, including:

* A FREE subscription to our Sanctuary magazine.
* ACCESS to book the cabin and cottage accommodations at our New York shelter.
* OPPORTUNITIES to take action and speak out for farm animals.
* SPECIAL ALERTS with breaking news about legislation regarding farm animals.
* UPDATES on urgent rescues, and more!

Best of all, as a Farm Sanctuary member, you will help us rescue animals in need like Julia and her babies. Your support will also help us care for the nearly 800 farm animals at our Sanctuaries in New York and California, and give them the full and happy lives they deserve.

You will also help us share the stories of the amazing animals we rescue, so people can see every farm animal as someone, not something. And you will join us in speaking out against cruel and inhumane farming practices-including by going to court, when necessary, to improve the lives of the most vulnerable farm animals.

If your circumstances allow, please join Farm Sanctuary today. Your generous gift will help us protect abused, exploited, and downed animals and build a better world for all beings.

Thank you, in advance, for becoming part of the Farm Sanctuary family!

Yours for farm animals,

Megan Watkins
Chief Executive Officer
